These Men Have Seen The Walking Dead Midseason Premiere
It looks like screeners have been sent out for The Walking Dead’s midseason return episode. We didn’t get one, but Variety’s Brian Lowry did, and overall he was pleased with the 42 1/2 minutes he saw. He posted a spoiler-free review on Variety’s website (and presumably in the paper itself).
“The show comes roaring back (on Valentine’s Day, no less) out of its midseason break — operating on multiple fronts with various characters, and a sustained level of tension that has become its hallmark,” says Brian. “Throw in a couple of particularly jarring moments, and even for those of us who engaged in a fair amount of grumbling about the sixth season’s opening salvo, that’s a good, adrenaline-filled way to kick off its bifurcated run’s second half.”
Brandon Davis of Comicbook.com made a video review. He thought it was a “great great episode” and that it “takes us right back to the reasons we love watching this show.” He also mentions Father Gabriel does something useful, which I’ll need to see to believe. No images here, just Brandon in a goofy hat….
Both Brian and Brandon mention the sheer number of zombies onscreen in this episode and express their sympathies to the overworked makeup department (unlike the season opener, there may be no cut-and-paste cheating this time). They seemed to like it! The rest of us will have to wait until February 14, and take their word for it until then.
