Titanfall Developer Also Working On Third-Person Action Game
Titanfall kind of flamed out rather quickly, popularity-wise, but it was apparently popular enough in that brief moment to bankroll a sequel. Respawn Entertainment is currently whipping up Titanfall 2, but they aren’t naive enough to put all their eggs into one basket. Hence the announcement that they’re working on a second game concurrently.
Until today no one knew what kind of game it was, but a new job listing posted on the Gamasutra Job Board has revealed the genre. They need a senior game designer for a third-person action adventure that appears to belong to a brand-new, non-sequel IP.
“We are now recruiting designers for two game development projects – a new game in the Titanfall universe as well as a new 3rd person action/adventure IP,” states the posting. “Respawn is seeking a Senior Level Designer to embrace and contribute to the project vision, breathing life into the gameplay world and helping define the moment to moment player experience.”
As for Titanfall 2, Electronic Arts once promised “2016 at the earliest,” but that remains to be seen. The game’s presence at E3 (or lack thereof) will tell us more.
