AMC Panel: Andrew Lincoln Wants To Be Herschel, Kirkman Axed Zombie
At an AMC panel screening for “The Walking Dead”’s Season Five finale held at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles yesterday, actor Andrew Lincoln [who plays Rick Grimes on the series] was regaled as the cast and crew’s mostest favoritest person ever, Lincoln said if he the show’s creators ever intend to kill his character off, that he would “burn down his trailer” while also listing Herschel [who he identifies as “cool as shit”] and, jokingly, Daryl [who he intimates has fewer lines due to his brooding character] as characters he would like to play.
Meanwhile, show co-creator Robert Kirkman says the decision never to use the word “zombie” in the show was made early on in a bid to make the show more believable by giving the impression that the show’s characters live in a universe where a “zombie” is an unknown entity – thus attempting to separate it from the hundreds of zombie movies and television shows.
In attendance at the panel screening were Kirkman, Lincoln, Norman Reedus [Daryl], Chad Coleman [Tyrese] as well as a few other cast and crew.
