Walking Dead Autographs Among Most Likely To Be Faked
It’s understandable to want little piece of The Walking Dead in the form of a star’s autograph, but if you didn’t get it in person, buyer beware.
PSA/DNA, an autograph authentication surface, has ranked The Walking Dead cast autographs as one of the top 10 most likely to be faked. TWD comes in at 10th place, after megastars like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
- The Beatles
- Elvis Presley
- Neil Armstrong
- John F. Kennedy
- Michael Jackson
- Marilyn Monroe
- Jim Morrison
- Jimi Hendrix
- The Rolling Stones
- “The Walking Dead” cast
How bad is it? PSA/DNA says that in some cases 50 percent of the autographs it sees for a star are fake.
“Unfortunately, just as in past years, a large portion of them were forgeries,” said principal authenticator Steve Grad, who is one of the featured experts on the “Pawn Stars” TV series, in a press release. “In fact, it’s not uncommon for us to reject 50 percent or more of the signatures submitted to our company, especially when it comes to the more prominent names.”
Of course, PSA/DNA’s suggestion is to use its autograph authenticating service, which you can find here. We’d also suggest a little common sense goes a long way. Be careful of buying autographed items from sketchy sites or auctions. And try to get them in person if you really want to be sure.
