Congrats on updating, Rapscallion! I started reading Chapter 8 yesterday and I was too tired to continue reading, so I'm hoping to get around to it today. I've written long chapters like that before, too. And I've split them in half--sometimes that's the best thing to do. Years ago, I was posting a long Jurassic Park fanfic on FanFiction.Net and when I was ready to post a certain chapter--I ended up doing the same thing: splitting it into two smaller chapters. I share that with you to say that I get where you're coming from.

Hey Rapcallion, how's it going? I see you recently updated your fanfic and I need to catch up. I'll see if I can read/review one chapter tonight before I go to sleep. So exhausted, am I.

      Rapscallion,

Wasn't that during the fish fry? It definitely was a mistake to not guard the camp that night. That's one of the hardest lessons in TWD: they can never let their guard down, not even for a moment. Wasn't that also around the time when Rick, Daryl, Glenn, and T-Dog went to get Merle, only to find him missing with only the hand left?

That was a beautiful moment between Carol and Daryl. I love S5E1! I love that she picked up Daryl's crossbow.

      Rapscallion,

Do you mean when Shane confronted Jim? Or when the walkers invaded the camp? Randall was sneaky and manipulative. I'm glad Shane pulled Carl away from him.

Daryl and Rick have a good friendship, yes, but I agree with you about Daryl calling Rick out on bad decisions. Rick needs someone to challenge him when needed.

My favorite Daryl/Carol moment was when he gave her the Cherokee Rose and how he was always out there looking for Sophia in Season2. Since you mention it, I will definitely be on the look out for the Caryl moments in "To Live Again" and also the Season6 reboot fic.

I read and write, also, but I've joined a few communities. They have writing prompts for fanfiction...one is called 30moments, and you pick a pairing and write a fic to each moment using the pairing of your choice.

      Rapscallion,

I'm sorry I'm responding late. You're welcome. It was a very good discussion.

Shane is a complex character and I like that he can be seen as doing some right and wrong things--he's not perfect and very relatable in that sense. His leadership...I think he was good in a sense, but he had his difficulties in other areas. I feel he tried to do the right thing, and often times, it blew up in his face. I agree that he was right about Randall.

So far, the Daryl I've read in your fic is what I see on t.v. It's interesting that you include more conflict with Rick--I saw that happening in the first half of Season 2 and by the later half of Season 2, he had become Rick's right-hand man. It's shocking that Daryl and Carol still aren't a couple on the show.

By the way...do you know about LiveJournal and their writing communities?

Awwww, I'm sad to hear that. Hopefully you will change your mind...and hopefully because you hear it was so good. Hey one can dream. Yeah meh, I stopped reading the comics after the intro of Ezekiel. Michonne was annoying the holy crap out of me and there were just way too many people and I was starting to lose interest as a result.

Rapscallion, I know we're having a serious conversation, and I know you're not a Shane fan...but you won't believe what I just found online re: Shane Walsh...a petition to bring back the character because "times are tough and Jon Bernthal needs to make a living to support his family." LOL! I'll have to post this in the SW thread and tag all the SW fans...so hilarious! As much as I like his character--because he's so complex and intense--I know he can't come back from the dead. And with your favorite character Daryl Dixon...since Robert Kirkland hasn't completed TWD comics...I'm wondering why he just doesn't write DD into the story now?

Rapscallion, I remember the scene you're describing. I never thought of it that way: that he couldn't forgive Lori for pushing him away after he revealed his feelings about killing Shane. As you put it accurately, he bared his soul, and for her to push him away after that AND think he intentionally put Carl to do the task of putting Shane down...that's an interesting way of viewing it. But see, this is part about what I don't like about Lori...she mentioned to Rick once "you would kill to protect the living?" and when he says "yes", she brings up how Shane is dangerous...and then gets mad with Rick when he is completely open about what happened that final night with Shane.

Rapscallion, yes that part I definitely remember with Rick telling that to Lori. Is that the same part where Lori pushed him away physically?

Do you think Rick ever forgave Lori for sleeping with Shane? Especially when she was crying to Hershel that Rick hates her.

It was sad that their relationship ended with no closure.

In the grand scheme of things...Lori, Rick, and Shane all got hurt from that whole situation.

Rapscallion, Lori was insincere IMO. She pushed him away, then pulled him close, over and over. She tells Shane he'll never be in the baby's life, even if he is the father. Then she tells him she can't imagine how hard this is for him (re: baby's paternity). She was inconsistent. She blamed herself, but that was the first time she took responsibility for her behavior. To be fair, the entire situation didn't happen by herself. Shane played his role in the matter.

Agreed, Shane couldn't let Lori go, and he planned to kill Rick. Shane's downfall was many factors, Lori being major one. He couldn't pull the trigger unless provoked, but that makes me wonder if he just couldn't fulfill his plan to kill Rick, after all. I agree with your idea about Lori thinking that Rick purposely let their son put down Shane. But didn't Rick also tell Lori that he wanted Shane dead and then she pushed him away? From there, Rick ignored her? It was S2E13, I think.
