Sorry to convey some kind of superiority complex. And thanks for calling me out on it. I’m still learning to navigate these Internet waters myself.

I'm cracking up imagining the look on Neuro's mailman's face, as Neuro engages him in a detailed conversation about internet forum behavior. LMAO!

Mailman: I'm sorry Mister..... Pyramidal. I delivered this package to your neighbor the other day and....

Neuro: No worries, man. Hey let me ask you something....

    (45 minutes later)

Neuro: I mean.... You can't sink to our level, start flinging mud, and then tell the rest of us to grow up! That's just whack, yo! Can a brutha get a fist pump up in here?!?!?

Mailman: Uhhhhhh.... I'm so sorry sir. I'll get your mail delivered on time from now on. aaahhhhh!!! (runs away).

You don't have to imagine it. I captured it at the 30 minute mark:

I wonder if the lack of face to face interaction has had a detrimental effect on our human communication process. When you’re a keyboard warrior, I think you tend to think less about the kinds of resonance your words might have with others. When you’re speaking with someone face to face you pay attention to the micro-nuances your words might have on someone else. I believe this is what allows us to be very cold sometimes with respect to online interactions such as forums. There’s got to be something we can do about that.

More opinion: Politics is everywhere these days. And not good politics either. Hateful, divisive politics. I’m right and you’re wrong politics. La la la la la I’m not listening politics. Has it always been this way and I’m just starting to see it? Or did people at one time actually seek to have a more civil discourse with one another despite opposing viewpoints?

Yet here you are, contributing your two bits. Not enough action on "your" thread?

One of many analyses of why we tend to find it easy to be rude with strangers online.

It’s slow around here, but not quite as slow as the poll thread. C’est la vie. I have a feeling that deep down many people prefer conflict over civility. It turns a lot more heads.

How is my comment baiting? I am hoping to discuss ways of getting along better.

Ok, I will try to explain how it might be baiting. After reading that post my first reaction was to find a gif for preach, but I thought better of it. Not wanting to take the bait and get into a forum argument.

    I hope this helps @PepperAnn

Maybe pushing buttons makes more sense to him.

Holding off on a knee jerk reaction is a good way from having a squabble escalate into something worse. So is taking a step back and trying to see that both sides might not really be all that far apart.

Do you have some ideas for how to foster peace on this forum?

Yeah, let these subjects die like they were doing before today. Simple. And the whole reason my side quit talking about it.

What exactly do you mean by "these subjects"?
