His dedication to this side story is quite odd, considering the last he knew, the Saviors were still surrounded by a horde at the Sanctuary.

I'm just hoping his dedication is not all for nothing. He's so weak now he can barely stand. I think they will take him in and feed him and he will sway them finally. But damn, it needs to happen like now. Then again, I didn't see them at all in the previews for the season finale. Who knows? What we all do know is that Oceanside story has dragged out far too long with no much to show for it.

I love Aaron, but his stint with Oceanside is strange and by far the weakest of the sub-plots. It's difficult to really pin down his motivations and commitment to this decision. At this pace, Aaron is gonna look real silly winning over fighters after the war already ended.

My guess is that they'll make a dramatic last minute assualt in the war similar to the Militia in 7x16.

    Ummmm..........

Only Man in a town of all Women.

I keep thinking he wants to learn to eat the applesauce like his Mom always tried to teach him.

I guess this shows where my head is but at least I am consistent!

I had all but forgotten about Aaron. So what are they going to fight with if they join them? Sticks?

Setting up Aaron and Oceanside to swoop in an save the gang next week also, Father Gabe will have a bigger part in the takedown of Negan...I'm sure what he was "meant to do" will come into play next week.

I'll have to check but I don't even think Aaron or Oceanside were in any of the promo pics for the finale. So either they are not in it at all or they do show up in the end and somehow tip the advantage to Rick's group. Or play a part in tipping the advantage.

They could have killed him but they didn't. Obviously they don't see him as a threat. They will take him under their wing, feed him fish and he will help them in return. Where were the girls of Oceanside going anyway? Just traipsing through the woods? They stumbled onto Aaron twice now.

im just not sure what the point of him staying out in the woods near their home is. he's just like that annoying house guest that no one wants there and everyone ignores, but no one has the guts to tell them to get the eff out. seriously though, he should have been engaging them and trying to convince them to fight against the saviors... not just hanging outside in their front yard

I found it very funny in a way. How they gave 0 ****s, not even executing him. Im suprised they are not afraid someone will leak info to Negan about their hidey hole. On the other hand...Simon butchered them all if we heard Negan correct there.

Also...Is it just me or will this be a "Battle of the Bastards" Scenario in The Walking Dead? For those who seen GoT!

Since so little time has actually passed in this war (even though it feels far longer to us) I wonder if he's also grieving Eric in an odd way. I mean he was right back out there with Enid after it happened.

I'm also wondering if in his mind he thinks if he sticks it out and shows them how dedicated he is, it will help change their minds a bit about people in general...not just fighting against the saviors. Killing granny and then walking off would have deepened their wounds and caused them to distrust even more than they did already.

It just seems a little deeper than trying to get them to fight...

If he and the Oceansiders pull a 7x16 and swoop in at the last minute... then wow the writers need to rethink plot lines.

Swooping in at the last minute would be a little repetitive, but i would love to see them involved somehow...

Now that I know Simon was the one who killed their men, it would have been nice if they were involved in his death somehow. I suppose that would also be a little convenient though.

But, but...he's already dead. Oooh, maybe they could unhook him from the fence and set him loose on some Saviors.

Oh I know...I'm just saying it would have been cool now that it's been revealed what he did. Although I did enjoy the fight club between Negan & Simon so i wouldn't take that away.

I keep waiting for them to do something with Oceanside...i need a good girl power moment instead of them just hiding away scared.

Yeah, I get that. I just don't see what they can do without weapons, so I'm curious how they will get their moment. I like that I don't know.

^ I hope they have a secret cache or something lol.

I noticed there seems to be two fights - one at Hilltop and the other at top of a hill ;)

Maybe Oceanside will swoop in to save Hilltop from total destruction as Aaron and the Oceansiders wouldn’t know where the final battle is. One of the promo pics shows Tara, Alden, and the former Saviors in the woods by Hilltop, which is why i think there will be two battles.

I keep trying to come up with a storyline that makes sense for Oceanside and Aaron, one that doesn't seem stupid and poorly written. I can't come up with one.

I assume, like most people, that Oceanside and Aaron will join in the final battle and "save the day". Which would be terrible. These "superman" moments are just lazy. As badass as it was watching Carol swoop in and save the day at Terminus, it was lazy. Rick was cocky and arrogant, had Carol missed with the bottlerocket, cocky Rick would be a Grimes burger right now. I forgive that lazy writing because the whole thing was so badass. Then Shiva saving the day was just pure laziness. They just can't do that again.

So far Oceanside has been a completely pointless side story, from start to finish. Like the casino in The Last Jedi. Pointless story line.

At this point I just want to see Aaron flip his shit and kill all of them.

I still expect the Oceanside women to come to save the day for Team Rick. But, the meaning will be a little less now as Simon is dead. If it was Simon who killed all the Oceanside men back then, it would be more meaningful if Simon now meets his fate in the hands of the Oceanside women.
