Game developer Blizzard Entertainment has launched a content creation contest in Plunderstorm, a new battle royale mode in World of Warcraft. Dubbed Plunderstorm Creator Royale, the tournament will feature 60 popular streamers competing in pairs for $50,000 (£39,600) in prize money on March 30th.

A new game mode, Plunderstorm, was released on March 16th in World of Warcraft, a long-running leading MMORPG.

Players with an active subscription to World of Warcraft can access the new mode, which comes with distinctly different mechanics from the base game. Plunderstorm's duos mode will be used for the tournament, with teams of two creators competing against each other across the single-day contest.

According to Blizzard, the duos at the top of the leaderboard will be eligible for the whole competition if they win their next match. The winner of the free-for-all match will be crowned champion after the eighth match
