Did anyone ever determine how Rick concluded Carol killed Karen and David? I know he's a sophisticated man and was an officer of the law. On the other hand, we never saw anything conclusive to signify it was Carol. What do you guys infer?

I haven't watched the episode in a few months. There may be some direct evidence Rick picks up on. My impression at the time was that he was at least partially suspicious of Carol because of the thought process and working presumptions she was beginning to articulate and act upon. She was clearly becoming more insistent upon making the "necessary, hard choices." Like I say, though, there may have been more direct evidence as well.

Bloody handprints on the door was something Rick noticed.

The Bloody Bloody Handprints was the name of my KISS/Pogues tribute garage band.

Plus Carol was stupid enough to brag about it on her facebook page...

Even after Carol confessed, a sizable element of fans remained certain that the bloody handprint killer was Lizzie.

Yes, Lizzie was no card-carrying PETA member and she was horrible in the killing of Mika. But she didn't do the Dr. Death thing. Lizzie paid a steep price for her mental breakdown.

I knew one guy that accidentally put a gun to the back of his OWN head, and he said, "start walking. We're going to walk like this until you hand over your wallet", and he ended up going all the way to the west coast.

Yep Carol copped to the killings, but wouldn't that be funny if it turns out Lizzie did the deed and Carol helped her. 'sarc' font.

Yeah, that was some tried and true police work by officer friendly, wasn't it?

Rick: "Did you kill Karen and David?"
    Carol: "Yes."

Rick: "Wow! that must be the first time that has ever worked in the history of law enforcement." (<~What should have been said.)

Bitch Carol takes pride in her kills! She would never take the blame for a child. Though it is clear that Carol has trained Padawan Lizzie in the art of murder.

Rick is one helluva cop, huh? Just a simple questioning, and Bitch Carol confesses. Let's hope she doesn't decide to add Rick to her 'list'

You guys missed the part where Rick followed the trail of flower petals from the bodies back to Bitch Carol's cell.

Rick was aware Carol was doing secretive things. She was teaching the kids about weapons. Rick sees a handprint that doesn't seem the size of a man's at the crime scene. Moments later he walks outside and sees Carol has gone outside alone to get the water pipe fixed despite Rick earlier saying not to. All these things are for the group's benefit essentially, so Rick realises she probably offed K/D for it also, since earlier he suggested whoever did it may have to avoid it the sickness spreading.

Also the floral pattern of the blood smears as Carol dragged the bodies along the floor. Nice touch there by the art department.
