Looked pretty much like Avalon to me?

 

That was strange because they actually called it Catalina Island in S2-E1. So I didn't get the reason for the change. They didn't change Los Angeles to Nox Angelos

And yes it looked 100% like Avalon. I've even been to the ranger station there.

 

Exactly. They already referenced Catalina Island in "Monster".... Huh....go figure.

 

Who said "Catrina"? I didn't catch it. Maybe that person grew up in an area with lots of Asians and naturally switches Ls to Rs and Rs to Ls. they would have been bitter when the Ros Angeres Lams moved to St. Rouis. too bad they won't see the Lams move back to Ros Angeres. :zombies_lol:

I feel ya! I was just getting use to saying St Louis and meaning the Rams and not the Cardinals. I am confused now because I will say St Louis and mean the Cardinals forgetting about Los Angeles having a team.

 

We're just watching the episode now - I knew it was supposed to be Catalina, being a local, but was confused when Alicia was looking at the fliers and it said Catrina. So weird that they would change the name of a real world location.

In other news, San Diego is gone so I am doomed.

But then it goes on to talk about a variety of wildlife and feral animals. So this means Santa Catalina has fresh water but just not as much water as the friars wanted?

When I heard Katrina (or Catrina as it turns out), the name instantly spooked me. Maybe that's why they changed it.

It's an island between Catalina and the mainland

They are not on Catalina, they are on a small island close to it.

You can see Casino Point in the distance, but you can also see a Ferris Wheel that isn't there in real life. So it's a fictionalized Catalina Island.

But the island they are on is in the distance and is a bird sanctuary called Catrina Island.

The funny thing is I don't see any such island -- even very small -- on the map. So that must be a faked shot w/catalina in the background.
