He must've left his blinkers on.

Why yes, yes, he did blink!
    Twice, I saw it too.

Then I farted, real nice and good, lifted my leg.

He had a few moments in a pivotal scene...can you blame him for emoting?

Who says they can't blink? They can shut their eyes and play possum until someone walks by. They can move all these other body parts that should have rotted away. They can react to sights and sounds, so I think it is okay that they blink now and then.

Good catch though, I missed that.

They usually edit out blinking in the walkers.

His favorite punk band was Blink 182. He just wanted to pay homage.

Mine too! Artists love their abstracts...

On topic... I thought it was a bit odd with the blinking, I wonder if the contacts bothered his eyes and/or they forgot to fix it in post.

Maybe just like Glenn, he survived miraculously. Glenn should have checked before sticking the knife.

He only blinked with one eye so it's only half a mistake.

Good thing it isn't cold in Georgia. If he will stick his eye to a metal post, he would have certainly got his tongue stuck on a cold metal post.

I didn't know walkers hardly ever blinked. For scariness value it makes sense. Any eyes bearing down on you are scarier than blinking eyes.

The blinking issue made me think about the walkers encased in glass. First, that was SO COOL! Secondly, if your face is encased in melted glass, you won't be able to suddenly open your eyes.

Oh, never mind. I just figured it out. Probably the bodies shrunk up in death and dropped down enough to be able to open eyes, even if they can't move enough to get out until someone steps on the glass shroud and cracks it.

Why wouldn't they blink? Their muscles and reflexes seem to work otherwise, they still pull air in and out of their lungs with their diaphrams even though they don't "breathe" (if they didn't we wouldn't hear them moan), so why would blinking be an exception to this?

    4) Don't blink
"I directed the episode in which a walker killed Dale. I was very specific with him. He had really good bone structure and he literally looked like a horrific doll. It was a really neat makeup my guys did. In editing I made sure to cut out any instances where the actor blinked. When people blink, that's an involuntary reflex, so with zombies, I try to take those lifelike performance bits away. You watch it and it's so weird, and you might not realize why."

From Neuropyramidal's link above. Interesting stuff. Walkers who are getting a close-up swish black dye in their mouths first. :zombies_cool:

Kirkman explained that when the brain reanimates it only retains functions which are necessary to obtain food. If your eyeball itself is dead, it doesn't really matter if it dries out. They also don't have a cough reflex, pupillary light reflex, sneeze or startle reflex as far as we can tell. So it follows logically they likely also wouldn't blink.

That would make sense if they didn't make noise, but they do. And we've seen walkers open their eyes, why would they close them at all?
