To speak English during the bridge scene lmao. I didn't catch it at first when I watched it but I thought it was funny the second time around, seeing as the guy was trying to tell him something (most likely him running out of bullets, hence the guy punching the walker afterwards), and even after he told him to speak English, which he couldn't, he replied something in Spanish again XD

I don't know I just found it funny.

Spanish guy: Close the door
Guy's son: There it comes, there it comes. What do i do!
Merle: Hey! Jump! Ahahaha!
Merle: What?
Merle: Hey man, i ain't wasting my bullets on couple of strangers...
Spanish guy: Stay there, don't move!
Guy's son: Watch out!
Lady in the car is praying
Guy's son: Don't let it bite you
Spanish guy: No! Help me!
Spanish guy: Come here, come here!
Daryl: Come on man, am trying to help you out! Cover me!
Spanish guy: Behind you, behind you! Watch out!
Spanish guy: Don't move, don't move!
Lady in the car continues to pray.
Spanish guy: That one is going to kill him, watch out!
Merle: I got ya!
Spanish guy: If you touch my woman, i'm going to kill you.
Daryl: Speak english!
Spanish guy: I don't understand you!
Guy's son: Kill it, kill it.
Guy's son: Dad, dad!
Spanish guy: Son, stay out of there
Guy's son: Help him!
Spanish guy: Help me, help me
Guy's son: Watch out!
Spanish guy: Stay away from my car!
Merle: Slow down, beaner.
Merle: That ain't no way to say thank you.
Spanish guy: We got nothing that you can take. Do you want to take the car? It has no gas.
Daryl: Let them go.
Merle: Meh, the least he can do is give us huh, enchilada or something, huh?
Merle: Easy señorita, everything is going to be fine.
Guy's son: Hey! hey!
Spanish guy: Stay back son, hold on. Stay there.
Daryl: Get out of the car.

That's it.

If it has no gas, where were they going in it?

Do they come back into the story later?

Or maybe he was lying, so that Merle wouldn't take it? (Yes, Merle doesn't speak their language but the guy couldn't just be quiet)

I hope they don't, or at least if they do they add subtitles. I mean where are Rick and that lot going to find a translator?

Someone may have learned Spanish somewhere down the line, I mean Beth was barely out of high school.

I recently went on a trip to portugal and don't speak a lick of the language so i memorized "eau nao falo portuguesa" (I don't speak portuguese) and "falo/a anglais?" (do you speak english?) because most folks there speak a little english so mostly i could get by with just those two phrases.

So at one point a couple comes up to me and the guy asks me a question in portuguese and i tried to say "eau nao falo portuguesa" but i got it mixed up and said "eau no falo anglais" instead, and he gave me this incredibly baffled look. then i realized i'd just told the guy i don't speak english -- in portuguese! after he'd said something in portuguese, not english, to me.

I also had a lot of guys, mostly older guys for some reason, would come up and say some big long thing to me in portuguese out of the blue. I'd say "eau nao falo portuguesa," they'd pause for a second... and then just go on talking to me in portuguese. language mixups can be pretty hilarious.

Thanks for the translation, Standup! I caught bits and pieces, but it's been too long since I took Spanish in high school. ;)

I really loved that Daryl chose to help those people. He could have easily kept going, like Merle. But I think it's becoming more and more apparent that even though Daryl has a loose-cannon temper, he has a big heart and he wants to do the right thing and be a good person. Merle is nothing like Daryl, so I see this causing huge problems between them.

When I was in Portugal I also had an older guy come up and say some big long thing out of the blue but he could speak English and he told me that Portugal had much more power when they had colonies and that losing their colonies was the worst thing that happened to Portugal and that Portugal was a much more glorious country previously than it was now. I was eating some fried whitebait in a restaurant at the time and I was baffled as to why I was singled out for the special privilege of this big long thing out of the blue.

When did they lose those colonies? Wasn't that in, like, the 1500s?

I'm actually dating a portuguese woman, which is part of the reason I went. They're wonderful people, friendly almost to a fault. It was impossible for us to be visibly lost for more than three seconds before someone came up, unbidden, to offer us directions.

Anyway, funny thing, I was talking with my GF last night about The Walking Dead, apocalypses in general and a rather disturbing story i read the other day about arctic methane gas causing global-extinction-level climate change, and we agreed that if that happened we'd bug out to... Australia.

Oh, pshaw, the Portugese empire was massive as shown by one of the most densely written wiki entries I've ever seen:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Empire

OK, you can stay at my place as long as you know a good recipe for fried whitebait.

ha, that entry IS enormous. Maybe your guy got tired of people cutting off his unsolicited schpiel about the portuguese colonies and went and poured it all out into Wikipedia.

Ahaha, so many coincidences in this thread. I'm Portuguese, but i speak spanish and english as well. Portuguese people tend to be very social, and very kind as well. Specially the elderly, they have so many stories to tell!
