I thought it was a very touching moment when Jesus added "boyfriends" to the list of people he had not been able to get close to. There was just a split second of hesitation there while he was speaking to Maggie. He thought he knew that the information would be well received, but there was that little realization of what it might cost him if she rejected him for being gay.

Well done by TP and the writers!

 

Maggie seems to be one of those girls who has all the gay guys as loyal friends, first Aaron and now Jesus. Lucky girl.

 

I thought it was very realistic, the way he said it.
It also reminded me of a time when I was 19 years old. There was this guy.... He was a god.
My sister introduced him to me at her boyfriends club. She told him that he should ask me to dance. He turned to me and said. "You are a beautiful woman, but no offence. I prefer to dance with men". All I could do was nod and smile.
Turns out - he was a goddess.

 

I thought they did it pretty well also. Some people were wondering anyway since his comic book counter part is gay. Now if we can just get that answer concerning Daryl.

 

I like the way it was done. He was nervous, sweet, and honest...and maybe a little fearful of what her reaction would be. That's realistic. Just because it's a ZA doesn't mean hatred of different groups of people ceases to exist.

 

They worked that line in there well. Having read the comics I knew that in time they would reveal this about Jesus. Some casual viewers might have even missed the mention because of the subtle way it was worked into the dialogue. But I really liked how they did it too.

I think the reveal would have worked better if Maggie went looking for Darryl and found him in bed with Jesus.

 

I guess I'm the only one who thought his "reveal" was kind of odd. Having heard the rumors that comic Jesus is gay, I figured we'd have to eventually find out that TV Jesus is gay, and to me this scene just seemed like a "let's not make it a big deal of his sexuality and just get it out quickly" way of addressing the issue. I didn't think the scene necessarily needed him to say that, but in a way it's a relief - now there shouldn't be any drama-filled scenes of love-lorn females being crushed when they find out he bats for the other team.

Now, if Olivia were still around, I could see her getting a crush on him and being the comic relief when she found out, but obviously that's not going to happen.
