PlayStation Network Down for 16 Hours of Maintenance This Thursday

    The PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance from 4pm on Thursday, July 26th until 8am on Friday, July 27th, BST.

    On the European PS Blog, Sony announced that the following services will not be accessible during the maintenance:

    PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP and PS Vita.
    PlayStation Network Account Management.
    PlayStation Network Account Registration.

    In order to play online during the maintenance, “you may be able to do so if you sign in to PSN before the start of the maintenance window.”

    EDT: 11am Thursday, July 26th – 3am Friday, July 27th
    PDT: 8am Thursday, July 26th – 12am Friday, July 27th
    UTC: 3pm Thursday, July 26th – 7am Friday, July 27th
    JST: 12am Friday, July 27th – 4pm Friday, July 27th
    Sydney: 1am Friday, July 27th – 5pm Friday, July 27th

    It’s still unclear if this will affect all territories or just the European PSN, we will update as soon as we hear more.

    Why is it the majority of XBox users are so insecure about their own system that they find any opportunity to put down other systems? Granted Ps3 users do it as well but it seems that XB people are way more vocal about it.

    All the article says is that it's EU and you "may" be able to continue playing online during the maintenence. What's with the obvious assumptions?

    And Hunter, they do it to feel better about themselves after having to buy at least three Xbox's due to hardware failure rates (in addition to paying online).

    As long as your system keeps running and online is free, who cares if they shut the network down for one measly day for maintenence? At least they're announcing it ahead of time.

    Why do I think that you are referring to me in this statement??? Is it because I posted a wonderful (and truthful) meme regarding the PSN??? Or is it because I have an XBL Gamertag listed???

    Not to start a flamewar, but the truth is, I own both systems. I don't post my PSN ID on a CoD forum because I don't play CoD on my PS3....in fact, I don't play any multiplayer games on it because the PSN is crap. Believe me, I'm not insecure about anything, especially video game systems. I am willing to pay the $60 annual fee to play on XBL because their service IS that much better.

    How often do you hear about an XBL outage...or required 'maintenance'????

    Look, I absolutely LOVE my PS3 for it's graphics/customization capabilities, it is most certainly the more powerful console by leaps and bounds...but the PSN is horrible.
