A bit off topic but nowhere else to post...and well, lets face it - waiting for season 2 will leave us with a bit of time for Preacher gossip:

SO - am I the only one who was completely oblivious that Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga have actually been a couple since 2009?

And that other contenders for the role of Jesse Custer were Timothy Olyphant and Norman Reedus. Look, I like Norman Reedus but he would have been so SO wrong for the role of Jesse. I am so very thankful that TPTB did not choose to go the route of name recognition (not to mention his obligation to TWD, although the upside to this would have been that my cutie ninja Jesus could have taken his rightful place alongside my handsome man Rick!)

Okay...back to the topic of crotchless pants and those who wear them.

I could NOT see Norman Reedus as Jesse. There's just no way. I can't even see him as Cassidy. Thank god for Dominic Cooper.

 

I think Timothy Olyphant would have been good, but the show would have been completely different. I honestly couldn't see anyone but Dominic Cooper in the role now. Norman Reedus would have been awful. And could that be taken as a spoiler that he is the one who Negan killed?

Also, I didn't know Dominic and Ruth were a couple either.

 

Nah, I would find it hard to believe that he was actually ever a serious contender. Probably more like Seth and Evan sitting around burning one, munching on stoner tacos from Jack in the Box and they came up with his name as a passing thought (at least this is how I picture it going down). So I would say that this gives nothing away in terms of who may be on the receiving of Ms Lucille.

Although I could see Timothy Olypant as someone who TPTB may have had on their short list

But just as I cannot see anyone other than Rami Malek as Elliot (Mr. Robot) I cannot envision any other actors who would have been more suited to the roles of Jesse, Tulip, Cassidy and Eugene as Dominic, Ruth, Joe and Ian

 

I had no idea they were a couple, but it makes me happy!

Also, the idea of Norman playing Jesse is preposterous. I try to imagine it and my brain explodes.

 

Yay, today is Friday

Yay an episode of Preacher on Sunday

and then my next thought was

Sigh no episodes of Preacher for a very very long time

and then my next thought was

What a waste of a perfectly good weekend
