Here we go... starting episode 1 now...

I just finished episode 1 and have to say... holy shit.

quick bullet points. (Pun)
Clementine is the walking dead's Han Solo. That is all. If we had Harrison ford read her lines in this episode it would make perfect sense. And CLEM SHOT FIRST! Lol.

Javier is cooler than I thought he'd be. Playing as two characters will be interesting. I intend to continue playing Clementine as Han Solo, and I've played Javier as a slightly lighter/funnier/sarcastic guy but I also picked just about every (physical) fight I could.

And when (I think her name was) Maria got shot at the junkyard, holy shit. Didn't see that coming. That was the biggest jumpscare since Carly in season 1.

Gabe is a complete piece of shit cocksucker asshole. Every time his mouth opened, bitching came out of it. Seriously. You could have given him a candy bar and as he ate it he would complain that he didn't like caramel-- which he would pronounce the way where it has 3 syllables. Like an asshat.

Kate is cool but I really hope they don't (but can see they definitely will) set up some weird love triangle thing between Javier, her, and the doctor lady with the AR15 who's name escapes me.

Great episode.

Episode 2 was fun. Not quite as great as episode 1, but it was cool.

The reveal that Clem was in the New Frontier surprised me. It was also when I first noticed "hey... where's AJ?" A question to which I have no answer. Maybe he's at Richmond, but if Clem left the new frontier why would she leave AJ there? Hopefully we get this backstory in the form of actually getting to play as Clementine for more than three minutes.

The gunfight at the gates was neat. I shot the guy. I'm assuming no mater what you do they kill the hostage.

Also shot Carter. Tried to reason with him first, but f*ck using Clem as a bargaining chip. But it's okay. When asked about it, I said he just didn't make it. Y'know, like a liar.

The Jesus reveal was funny. But more fun was the reveal of his ninja badassery.

And finally the reveal that David is the leader of the new frontier. Didn't see that one coming. I doubt the next three episodes are a happy family reunion though, so we'll see what goes down.

I didn't read your spoiler yet, but I'm hoping to play the episode either tonight or tomorrow night. Its been so long since I played the last episode of season 2, I feel like I should play it again first to refresh my memory. Or more likely just go back and read my own summary of it....

The story begins with Javier, back at the very beginning of the outbreak. He was on the way to his family's house, but got stuck in traffic so bad he had to ditch his car and walk there. As he announces his arrival to his brother David, David sais, "he's dead." Their father had been sick for some time and Javier was on his way to be there for his final moments, but did not arrive in time. The two brothers get into a verbal altercation which develops into a physical altercation. David's son Gabe comes through the front door to see David on top of Javi, about to punch him in the face.

The two brothers stop the fight and head inside. Javi attempts to approach his mother, but she is angry that he wasn't there. David's daughter, Mariana, approaches the room with a cup of water. They tell her he doesn't need water because he's sleeping. She says, "he's awake." The family goes into the room to find their first encounter with a walker. He bites the mother's face and other chaos ensues before Javier puts him down.

Flash forward an undetermined number of years. (Probably about 4. Maybe slightly more. That rhymed.) Javier is driving a van, with David's wife Kate, as well as his son and daughter. The two talk about their plans. They talk about David-- Javier asks Kate if she misses him, but they don't seem to imply he is dead. Just gone.

Javier brings the van to a stop in a junkyard. The four survivors split up to look for supplies and siphon gas. Javi and Gabe come across a trailer which is well stocked with supplies. Kate thinks this means someone lives here so they shouldn't take it. Gabe and Mariana say they should at least spend the night. The player is offered a choice between the two but it really doesn't make a difference.

Regardless of the player's choice, Javier is held at gunpoint by some of the poeople who live there. They suspect you are with a group, whether or not you try to lie to them. They force you to open the door to the trailer, but luckily Kate, Gabe, and Mariana hide under a trapdoor Javier used to enter the trailer earlier. The leader of the group leaves the trailer briefly, and while he's gone the man holding him at gunpoint hears a noise under the floor. He reaches to open the trapdoor, but Javier picks up a melee weapon and knocks him the f*ck out. However, his freedom is short lived because the leader of the group also knocks Javi out.

Javi wakes up in the passenger seat of a large truck driving down the road with a lone member of the group that captured him. His hands are bound with a zip tie. He argues with the driver berifly but their argument ends when a tree suddenly falls into the path of the truck, forcing the driver to crash into a ditch. Javi grabs the gun which is sitting on the dashboard. The driver and Javi both exit the vehicle. The driver runs away. Just before he crests the hill, Javi raises the gun and tells him to freeze. What do you do?

not my choice, but here's what happens:
Javier lowers the gun and watches the man run away. It's a good choice because a shotgun is racked just behind him. He drops his gun and says, "I surrender. I'm no threat to you."
Clementine (the one holding the shotgun) says, "well, that's obvious. Seeing how you didn't shoot that guy. Now, don't do anything stupid. 'Cause I'm not as nice as you. I won't hesitate."
continue the story with the next spoiler tag. Things are pretty much the same except A few lines of dialogue where Clem doesn't know if Javi is a good guy or not because he shot that guy.

>>> Javi, already regretting it, pulls the trigger. The bullet hits the man in the back just as he turns to gun away. He didn't want to kill the guy, but he can't risk him running back to his group and informing them that Javi escaped. Seconds later, Javi is startled by the sound of a shotgun racking behind him. He drops the gun and says, "look, I'm already having a bad f*cking day here. This isn't what it looks like."

The person holding the shotgun, which is revealed to be Clementine, says, "What it looks like is you shot an unarmed guy in the back. Or... is that not what I saw? Now, don't do anything stupid. 'Cause I'll shoot a lot quicker than you did."
She brings Javier at gunpoint to the front of the truck and is disappointed to see that it looks to have damaged itself pretty bad in the crash. She had set the tree up as a trap and planned on using the truck herself. She begins to go through javier's backpack, taking whatever she wanted as "payment for saving you." After she is finished going through his pack, she tells him to count to 100 with his eyes closed before he goes anywhere. He asks where they are and how to get back to the junkyard. Clem says she knows where they are and asks "you said you had a van? I'll get you to the junkyard, if you let me have your van."

what do you do?

"We need the van! that's all we have."

Javier says "how 'bout you just give me directions like a normal person?"
Clementine says, "how bout I just shoot you and take the van? This is a better deal for you."

>>>Clem begins to show the way, but insists that you stay in front of her, with her shotgun trained on you. As you come to a clearing in the terrain, Javier sees a herd of walkers and announces that there are a bunch of "muertos" up ahead.
"Muertos..." Clementine repeats him, critically.
"What do you call them?" Javi asks.
"Walkers."
"What do you call the ones that run?"
"they're all f*cking walkers. okay?"

Clem apologizes for her tone and explains that it's been a while since she was with people. Gabriel says, "I can tell."

They are too far away to make it on foot without resting, so Clem brings them to a small settlement built on an airport runway. At the gates, they have to clear out walkers. Everything goes relatively smoothly, except for when Clem draws her sidearm and pulls the trigger on two separate bullets and they both fail to fire, nearly getting her killed, but Gabe saves her which earns him a little bit of her trust.

Once inside the settlement, Clem gives Javi a brief tour before heading into a bar and saying "I need to see a guy about some bullets..." she tells Javi to "make some friends" while she talks to some guy in a corner of the bsr. Javi plays a hand of cards with a guy named Carter and a woman named Francine but is interrupted when Clem's argument with the man grows loud.

He walks over to discover Clem arguing with the man who traded her a box of defectivebullets in return for a crate of batteries from her. He says she can't even prove that the bullets were the ones he sold her. She draws her handgun and points it at his face and pulls the trigger. There is only the faintest pop of a primer going off but not igniting powder. The guy gets up and tries to stab Clementine but Javier stops him and puts him back in his seat. The man offers to give her the batteries back. Clem racks another bullet into the chamber. She says, I don't need batteries. What I need are hullets that won't get me killed.

BANG! She pulls the trigger again. This bullet works. The gun goes off and she unintentionally shoots the guy in the face in the bar, with at least two but probably more witnesses. Clem is stunned for a few seconds, but just before the bartender shows up to detain her, she begs for Javier to lie for her and say that the guy went for his gun and she fired in self defense. the leader of the settlement shows up and asks what happened. What do you do?

javi explains what was happening and that she wasn't expecting the gun to go off. The leader of the town decides to exile her as soon as the herd passes. Which is just as well-- you were leaving anyways. But Clem is PISSED that you didn't have her back.

"it was self defense."

javi points at a cut on his face from when the guy tried to stab Clem and says that he's, it was self defense. The leader of the town doesn't trust him so puts both of them in a makeshift jail cell until he can figure out what to do with them. While they're in jail, a woman named Elanor who describes herself as "what passes for a doctor," stitches up Javier's cut and offers to take them to the junkyard. The player is offered the choice of going with her or waiting until morning. This choice is basically inconsequential so I'll opt to avoid another spoiler tag and say that the next branch of the story tree is that Clementine has a flashback and/or dream sequence depending on your choice. We get our first backstory on what has happened to her since the end of season 2. And I'll continue that in my next post tomorrow because this one is long as f*ck.

Clem is hunting with AJ on her back. She nearly gets a rabbit, but AJ makes a noise and scares the rabbit away. Clementine hides him in a car and pursues the rabbit through the brush. But just as she is about to get another shot at the rabbit, she hears AJ crying. She runs back to the car to find several walkers trying to get at AJ. she fights a few of them off and then tries to get AJ out of the car but a walker slams her hand in the door. She kills the walker with her hand still caught in the door. She opens the door to find one of her fingers is severely broken. When the flashback is over, Clem is revealed to have lost the first and second digits of her finger.

Wellington

AJ is drawing something... abstract. Clementine asks if he wants her to guess what it is. AJ makes a noise meaning yes. Regardless of what Clem guesses AJ points at her. "Oh... it looks just like me." Clem says. Soon after, Edith bursts into their room to tell them Wellington is under attack from some bad Negan-esque people. Gunshots are heard. Clem, AJ, and Edith flee Wellington with Clem running in front and Edith carrying AJ. Edith is shot in the back of the head and falls and lands on AJ, which I have to point out would've been a fantastic homage to comic Lori and Judith if AJ didn't survive. But he does. Clem goes back, picks up AJ, and as she turns to run away, a bullet grazes her cheek. The flashback ends and Clem is seen feeling the scar.

Jane

The flashback begins with Jane giving Clem a tattoo on her hand that says "AJ." They talk briefly. Jane doesn't seem herself. She seems cold-- even colder than usual. She tells Clem she doesn't feel well and is going inside to take a nap. Clem comes inside a while later and finds Jane committed suicide by hanging herself and her walker is now suspended by the noose. "Why?" Clem asks in disbelief. She steps on something. It's a pregnancy test with a plus sign in the window. Clem pulls out her gun, says she is sorry, and ends Jane's reanimation. The flashback ends and Clem is seen looking at her tattoo.

Kenny

>>>Kenny is teaching Clem how to drive a manual car. They start in first, then work up through second gear into third. Kenny and Clem are planning on going to Florida to try another shot at kenny's beloved boat idea. Clem notices AJ doesn't have his blanket and the car has no heater so he must be freezing. Kenny undoes his seatbelt and turns around to give AJ a blanket. As he does, Clem loses the rear end of the car and begins to fishtail. Kenny tries to help her correct the loss of control but they crash into a large rock and Kenny flies through the windshield. Clem Runs over to him and tries to help him to his feet but he falls back down and says he can't feel his legs. Walkers try to get at AJ who is still in the car. Kenny yells at them to get them away from the car and tells Clem to leave him. Clem refuses but he shoves her away just as he is bitten by walkers. She runs off into the distance with AJ as Kenny is devoured by walkers. as the flashback ends, Clem is seen with feeling a scar on her forehead from the crash.

Clem, Javier, and whichever person from the town you chose arrive back st the junkyard. First they find Mariana, then they find Gabe and Kate. The group shares a happy reunion. They walk to where they originally parked the van only to find the bandits torched it out of spite. Assholes. Clem turns to Javier and, in a quote that's two words shy of a direct Dominic Torreto quote, tells him he still owes her a car. Mariana finds the headphones to the tape player she's been listening to. She turns to Javier and sees he is holding the recorder itself. She smiles, and then is shot in the back of the head from a man at the edge of the woods. Everyone is stunned, but ducks into cover. In a state of emotional shock, Kate says they can't leave Mariana's body there and runs out into the open to pick her up, and gets shot in the abdomen. Everyone regroups behind a wall of cover. Most people, including Kate herself, Gabe, and whichever extra person the player chose to bring insists that they retreat and get Kate medical help. Clem says they should stand and fight-- if they let the bandits live they'll kill again.

This choice creates too big and diverse a branch for me to list here because of its effects in episode 2. So I'll just tell my own story for the rest of the episode.

>>>Javier chooses to stand and fight with Clementine to provide enough cover while the rest escape and get Kate to safety. He and Clem each kill a few of the bandits. Then one of them throws a pipe bomb right next to clementine's cover. Javier runs forward and dive-tackles Clem to get them both away from the blast of the bomb.

It seems 4-5 years have passed in Telltale time, and walkingdead.wikia.com has the comic timeline as a little over 4 years.

I was trying to work out the timeline. I assumed that season 3 took place during the comics timejump, based on Jesus' physical appearance.

I've seen Clem's age as 13 a couple places, including walkingdead.wikia.com. That site has her as 8-9 during season 1, so that's 4-5 years.

this wikia is proof that I must not be nearly as insane a nerd as I thought I was, because I have no f*cking clue how these people worked out specific dates of things. Lol:

it says they entered Crawford on day 104 of the outbreak. On day 106 the stranger says Clem's birthday was six days ago. So if this wiki is to be believed, and Clem is 13, they are at least four years and 100 days into it.

the outbreak started on July 18th, by the way.
