    Anyone watching this? On TNT?

They showed all of the series over the weekend (there were only 4) so I watched them, and it's really pretty good! Based on the book of the same name, about some horrific serial murders in New York at the end of the 19th century.

Worth watching I think, and the costumes and scenes are really well done. @Dnae you might like this, the cinematography reminds me of Taboo.

@tink - I have been watching since its premier!!! You know me so well ;). And I agree, it is beautiful to watch

I read the book years ago (late 90s) along with its follow up/sequel The Angel of Darkness. Caleb Carr is an excellent writer, I should pick up his newest book

The first episodes were a little slow but the last two weeks the story has ticked up a bit. I will say that I am not the biggest fan of Dakota Fanning in this role but she is slowly growing on me.

Now, if we could just get a premier date for season 2 of Taboo!

I read the book too, must have been in the 90s, I remember nothing about it...

    o_O

I may have to read it again once the season is over.

Dakota Fanning is a very wooden actor, but in this part it kind of works!

Not Yet....I was going to watch it at 9 (after it recorded) but I fell asleep before that LOL

On a scale of 1-10 what say you?

I am going to watch it when I get home and then possibly watch The Terror. Too much on TV at the same time right now!

I would give it a 9. There was much that was really excellent, but a couple of things that nagged at me a little. Still a really excellent series though, I hope they do the second book.

I will go with an 8. I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Not so much from the story point of the killer. I felt a bit "cheated" or rather left wanting more fleshed out of what I perceived to be corruption within the police force. I need to read the book again, perhaps this was not plot point in the book. I am hoping that if they move forward with a second season that perhaps that is story line that will garner a bit of attention.

Yes, @Dnae those were exactly my issues too. And I did feel a little cheated that we really didn't get to know anything about the killer. Why was he doing it? What was the point of what he did?

And the police corruption too, it seemed like things were just going to remain status quo after all that. They gave that asshole a medal!!

OH I KNOW @tink that pissed me off when they gave him that medal. And that smug ex commissioner (cannot remember his name)...ugh I think I hated him the most!!

Yes, too many things left up in the air, the reason for my 8. I still hope that they give us a second season though.

My 9 was more for the acting being really spot on, the excitement and tension when they were at the opera waiting for their chance, etc. There was so much I really liked about the whole series that even with the disappointments I was still really please with the whole thing.

I would have liked to know what happened with the boy too - did John take him in?

Have you read this book? Angel of Darkness? I think that I did read it but again, sooooo many years ago.

Might have to make a trip to the 1/2 price book store this weekend.

I know, I know my tablet......but there is just something comforting about holding an actual book.

Now I want to watch the first season again.

I'm sure I did read it, but I think it was a long time ago too, so I don't remember it either. I'll have to order it too.

    Thanks @Dnae

I wonder why they did that? You would think they'd want it to last longer with so many other shows not in production.

I can't wait, it looks really good in the previews.
