I read about this the other day and am cautiously optimistic

I am the person who has never read a stephen king book but I do remember this book as a mini series YEARS ago with Rob Lowe and Molly Ringwald

Hopefully this one will be better.

Keep us posted with more information.

And is Hedwig still lurking about? I miss her.

Hopefully it will be better than the first miniseries. Some of the actors in that one were great (Flagg, Stu, Tom Cullin and Larry) and some were just awful (Franny, Nadine).

They're also remaking Pet Sematary, which I'm not sure is a good idea. They're making big changes to the story.

I'm interested in the Dr. Sleep film that's coming out this fall. It's the sequel novel to The Shining that follows Danny Torrance as an adult. Ewan McGregor is playing the lead.

I really enjoyed the book. It's one of King's better later works. It's going to be tough one to pull off because there are so many parts of the book that occur within the minds of the characters. Hopefully they're able to do it though.

CBS All Access has a bit more leeway in how its content is presented than network CBS - so there is that silver lining

Ohhhh Ewan McGregor?! Count me in. Have no clue about the book or story, but if it is Ewan then I will buy a ticket

I really liked the book too, I didn't know they were making a film of that. At least they have a good actor attached, which you wouldn't think they would be able to get if it was schlock.

They are supposedly developing a script for The Talisman, which is my favorite King book.

And to present it properly, most of King's work should keep King far away from it while it is adapted. Master novelist. Horrible at adapting them to the screen.

The Stand is one of my favorite novels. I must have read it a dozen times. Yes all 1000+ pages!

I enjoyed the 90s adaptation a great deal. I'm really looking forward to an updated adaptation.

It's an intricate story, so it'll be a challenge for them to present it correctly in a movie There's a girl who has the same psychic powers as the Danny Torrance character from King's The Shining. So a good deal of it goes on in their minds. I don't want to give too much of the story away though.

I think though that Ewan McGregor will be a good fit for Danny Torrance, particularly after seeing his dual role in Fargo. So I'm hopeful that they can pull it off.

My favorite King book is IT. I really need to re-read the Talisman. I read it when I was a kid, and I really enjoyed it then, but I don't have much of a recollection of that one aside from the general premise.

Yeah, he's terrible with films. The low point was Maximum Overdrive which he had full creative control of.

One thing that's good to see though is that King's novel writing has become more appreciated with time. He's no longer dismissed as a horror genre writer and more people give him the credit he deserves.

It is my other favorite King book. :)

The Talisman really just struck a cord with me, I just loved it. Loved Black House too, and was looking to see Jack in the Gunslinger books, but he never showed.

I have done the same with the book, although I thought the mini-series was "meh"
