I don't think Sanders is in anyone's pocket but I wouldn't vote for him, and besides, he can't win.

At first I found the spectacle of the Trump stuff funny because it was so surreal. It was like watching a SNL skit whenever he spoke. But now it's really irritating me. I don't normally watch very much of cable news anyway, but it's impossible even to tune in without seeing wall to wall Trump coverage. Cable news is like TMZ now.

Politics is a dirty business, but with Trump now it's becoming trivialized in a way that I even think is somewhat dangerous.

I live in a state where Jessie 'The Body' Ventura was voted in as governor. I think people at first thought it would be funny and would stick it to the two-party system.

It was a disaster. And Trump would be an even bigger disaster.

Trump makes for good television, but any analysis of what he proposes shows how dangerous he would be to the national security of this country.

Arnold Schwarzenegger did a pretty lousy job when he was governor of California. He even had Jesse Ventura making commercials criticizing him. The worst thing Arnold did was to reduce the prison sentence of Esteban Nunez, the son of Fabian Nunez, who at the time was the Speaker of the Assembly. Esteban was part of a group of thugs that attacked four men without provocation. The man Esteban stabbed survived, but another was killed by one of Esteban's companions. Arnold reduced Esteban's sentence from 16 years to 7 years, saying "I mean, of course you help a friend".

One galling aspect about this case is that there is a West Wing episode about sentence reductions that is titled "The Benign Prerogative". Well, **** that shit. And **** Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I was very impressed with how he said he gets his military advice. It's from "watching the shows."

It doesn't matter who is voted into office. The results will be the same. And really, it's sad that people actually believe the system still functions. It doesn't. Voting is rigged, the candidates are rigged, and Americans are brainwashed. Also, Trump is an obnoxious idiot.

Joe Biden says his children will decide whether or not he'll run for president.

Republican leadership got Donald Trump to sign a pledge that he will not run as a third party candidate if he doesn't win the nomination. All this means is that those dinosaurs will do everything in their power to make sure Trump doesn't win.

Rut roh. The Trumpster is coming to San Pedro, the town where I grew up. It's a port town and a military town and over half the population is latino/hispanic. Someone I know from San Pedro is promoting a change.org petition to have him move his speech to his nearby golf course in upscale Palos Verdes.

Donald Trump to give national security address from USS Iowa in San Pedro

Seeing as how fond the Donald is of Hispanic people, this should be interesting.

Ever read any sci fi that depicts the country going ultra conservative to the point of curfews and rationing and class struggle etc. All because of some idiot being martyred?

No, too busy trying to survive as the country goes socialist thanks to white liberal guilt, the news media, the pinko college professors, and the community organizer turned president, Barack Hussein Obama.

A number of people in my old hometown of San Pedro are planning to protest when the The Donald comes to town. Some high school teachers are even planning to give out points in certain classes to students who go.

I posted a question on my FB account about whether I should go too. A college student that I know replied: "Protect that asshole!!!!!!"

I'm pretty sure that was a typo on her part.

Are these teachers giving points out for going to Trump's speech, or are they giving points to protest him?

If the answer is the latter, then that's disappointing. Teachers should broaden their students minds so they can choose for themselves, not mold them into one way of thinking, regardless of the politics.

The points are being given to students who go to observe the happenings. Admission to the speech starts at $100, so they will not be able to attend that. None of the students I have spoken with plan to take part in the protest, but they are aware that one is being planned.

My last post pointed out an ironic typo by my friend. It thought it was pretty funny. Sorry you missed that.

The GOP has reached the stage where UN sanctions are going to be needed to bring them back into the community of nations.

Are you sure it was a typo? I thought it was a firm statement along the lines of "I disapprove of what you say,but I will defend to the death your right to say it", IOW, he dislikes Trump but wanted to make sure he got to say his piece. Eh, probably not, huh?

Well, I know this person really dislikes The Trumpster. She is a college student who works for the ACLU during the summer. So you may be right about the free speech thing.

I posted this in response to her: "I won't anyone get near him!" If she responds to that I'll let you know.

The population of my old hometown is over one-half latino. There is a general uneasiness about Trump's stated plans for mass deportation, but it's not not like people are really taking him all that seriously. Occasionally someone will ask me if I agree with Trump and they are relieved when I say no. I have another friend who happily refers to herself as an "anchor baby".

They say if you utter "Trump" three times while looking in your bathroom mirror, that the drain hair will rise up from the sink and shout racial slurs.
