You really didn't think Beta was going to die just yet did you? They had to set it up like that.

True. If you're only going to complain about everything, why bother watching. I would have been totally shocked if Beta had been killed off in this episode. I liked the fight scene. My only bad vibe was that he fell so far with no apparent major injuries which would have been highly unlikely. (I know, I know, it's a tv show).
Ryan Hurst was good on TTD.

 

He was so enthusiastic! Loved it.

 

I wasn't even sure whether Beta was dead or not when he stood up - between the grunting and the mask and the fall that should have killed him, it was only the way the scene played out that told me he was alive.

But he's a big, tough old brute, isn't he? Maybe he's cracked a rib or two. Daryl should have seen it through and confirmed the kill, but hey, that's our Daryl...

 

How exactly could daryl have seen if Beta was dead or not? I doubt there was any light inside the elevator shaft. Sure they lit it for us the viewer but I doubt daryl could have seen down there.

 

Flashlight? Used by none other than Daryl himself earlier in the episode? It was only 3-4 floors down. A fall any of us could have survived.

Even if he used a flashlight he would have seen Beta laying with a pool of blood coming from his head. Short of climbing down and checking for a pulse, he still would have assumed he was dead.

 

I'll rewatch that scene, but it looked more than 4 floors to me. People die falling 2 floors. It doesn't have to be off the Rockefeller Centre

Obviously Daryl assumed the drop had killed Beta. I think this is a good assumption. Even though Beta was wearing some kind of armour, his lying flat on the group strongly suggests his head had some kind of impact and his skull likely fractured (in real life but not in TV, of course).
But, it was hard for Daryl to go down to confirm. I do not remember seeing any easy way to go down. There was nothing to hang on to climb down as it was a new construction and the elevator shaft was not yet finished. There was no pulley system or cables to use. So, Daryl might have to go down to ground floor and pry open the doors to check on Beta. But, I think, in reality, Daryl could either shoot an arrow to Beta's head or, at least, drop down some heavy object (eg that heavy work table which Connie used to hide the stash under the floor). Judged by the effort that Connie had to use to slide that bench, its weight surely will be enough to kill Beta.

 

Ugh I've been coming here to get my fix since switching to Hulu 2wks ago no amc which sucks.

I saw half of last wks episode and went to Youtube to watch Daryl v Beta which was an outstanding fight loved it!!!

And uh oh yeah another way Beta could've survived is real simple... drugs. That huge dude burst through that wall like he was on something for real lol
