Ha Ha Ha - love it. Yes, can imagine the Gov 'waxing' Maggie, guess it will be quite bushy after this long - perhaps to make up for scaring her that he was about to rape her? And with Glenn perhaps he has hairy back.. in fact they should have started with that before beating him up - probably better results..

I guess there are plenty of waxing strips in the store since they are hardly a must on everyone else's scavenging list are they?

I agree with this. The Guv thinks he has Glenn and Maggie figured out. Physical threats made no difference, but the moment he approached Glenn and put a gun to his head, Maggie caved. It only makes sense to keep them alive as hostages in case he needs to furher exploit this--- some would call it a weakness in this situation but i think overall, it's a strength (that Woodbury doesn't have btw)--- to get more information, or to use them as a bargaining chip; in true bad guy fashion....

Also, he mentioned, almost in a panic, that if Maggie was telling the truth, a small group of 10 took did what Merle thought was impossible. And if Maggie was lying about how many were in their group, then this group would be a potential threat to Woodbury. the Guv used the phrase "a sizable force has moved into our backyard..." and speculated that group might be on their way to Woodbury right now looking for them... Either way, the Guv realizes that he may have a real challenge ahead.

There's no leverage. It doesn't make sense in that the people in Woodbury must think the governor's a good guy and are following him for that reason, if they knew he was a psycho he wouldn't have to hide his fish tanks and Penny.

If Rick's group shows up and proves the governor's taken and tortured hostages that were no threat to him... his leadership is OVER. Nope, far better to just kill them. Remember the governor doesn't know Michonne is alive, if Rick's group shows up he could claim they were attacking Woodbury for no reason and get ALL the citizens to fight for their town against these "attackers". Even when Michonne does show up he can say she's a liar and most townfolk would still be on his side. Once he shows off his hostages who in town other than his thugs would support him?

Of course they are leverage. He can use Glenn and Maggie caring for each other to great benifit. He could very easily use Maggie to "confess" whatever he wanted her to tell his group. Even if his townspeople were against holding hostages, he could very easily spin them as aggressors that had to be captured and interrogated to help Woodbury defend against the outside threat. The governor would have to be pretty stupid to allow ricks group to get into any position to prove anything and Rick really has no reason to believe him providing proof would have any positive effect on the motivations of the townspeople.

If the Governor hadn't raped in the comics, the number suggesting rape in the TV show would be far less pervasive if at all. I haven't read the comics so simply based on watching the show, I wouldn't automatically assume he is out to rape every female hostage (it has been discussed associated with Maggie and Michonne.....Andrea was more than willing to just give it up).

Of course there is leverage. In Woodbury they all walk around with the heads in the clouds and really pay no attention, they are getting on with a fake life. But if Rick's group attack the walls, the Gov hand hold Maggie/Glenn on top of the wall, guns to their heads and tell Rick to drop his weapons. The people of Woodbury would think he was a hero for trying to stop what they see as crazy lunatics trying to destroy their ideal set up. For all the Woodbury people know, Maggie and Glenn tried to also 'do something bad' and were caugth. Don't forget, the Gov has conned all these people for a long time, it would be easy for him to do it again and look like the good guy. They all think he is a good guy. How could Rick 'prove' anything? is he going to sit down with the residents of Woodbury and say - see what your Gov has done? Er, no. It will be a gun fight and the residents of Woodbury will just think they are under attack by some bad guys..

His reaction to Merle's story (re: Michonne's head and sword) shows that he may suspect something is fishy.

Glenn has been kidnapped twice over the past 2.5 seasons. At this rate I think it's safe to say he shouldn't be running errands for the team anymore.

If he didn't rape Maggie by now, he won't do it. Also, TV Governor doesn't strike as a rapist anyway. If he ever rapes someone, it's gonna be Michonne because she's the only woman he has reasons to hate at this point.

Honestly, I just don't see TV Governor raping anyone really. He's a womanizer, a sociopath, but not a rapist.
