Good question. I can't comprehend how they can walk into a possible enemy's turf and lower their guns again after what happened at Terminus. What if the cops had a crew on a lower floor ready to ambush from behind? Can't trust these hoes

I didn't think it was the smoothest move either, or taking the entire group to the exchange. I would have left somebody outside to provide overwatch.

Maybe they needed him incase things went south? If it turned into a gunfight and they had to flee, well Noah's escaped before.

Obvious answer: he knew his way to the meeting point, and the only other people that knew where to go were the hostages who couldn't be trusted.

It's obvious he's the plot device for that scene which carried over from the end of last episode. It was so for Dawn and Beth's fate could be finalized.

And your logic gives the plot device credence.

The only upside I saw was that both parties would be disinclined to start a shoot out. The cops would (hopefully) feel responsible for their wards, and Rick & Co. wouldn't want to, because they wouldn't know the layout of the place.

BTW I thought Rick&Co. wer lead by 2 officers to the meeting place.

I would haved loved to seen the first plan in action. Imagine if Abrahams gang joined in to. The cops would NOT stand a chance.

what would've been smart would be to snatch up more officers.

those two were out there, on patrol, they should've caught them too, they really had them in a tight spot right there. especially since they have no way of knowing how large Rick's group is.

They should have done the trade outdoors, too. The hospital corridor is too unknown for Rick's group to escape from if things went south. They could have kept Sasha on a rooftop to sniper the shit out of the hospital crew if they needed to.

Taking Noah and going INTO the hospital was placing a lot of faith in the hospital people to cooperate and for things not to escalate.

    yeah, actually, totally this...
it's just doesn't seem like Rick at this point to concede on that level. even if he for some reason did not want to take the other two cops prisoner, he has the upper hand just being outside, he knows Dawn's not gonna just kill Beth or Carol for no reason and lose 2 or 4 of her cops. it was crazy to even walk in there.

Because it's a horror movie and you don't make smart decisions when you're a paid actor inside one of those.

i dont understand why they didn't do the exchange outside of the hospital where Rick's group could be sure they weren't walking into a trap. shouldn't they have learned their lesson by now?

    Ditto that

    1) why take Noah?
    2) Why be led by the cops down passgaeways they don't know and not check any rooms en route (they could clearly have been trapped in a pincer movement by cops or walkers)?
    3) Do the trade in the open with Sasha sniping from the roof common sense really

Noah knew his way in and out of the hospital, so he could tell them if the cops were leading them to the wrong place and he could lead them out if things went south. Plus he knew all the people involved on the other side, so again he could tell them if something was wrong, like cops missing or acting way out of character. It would have been dumb to not take him from that respect; he provided Team Rick with a huge advantage.
The way around all of that would have been to have the meeting outside, but for script purposes they wanted the claustrophobic feeling of being in the hallway, so I can't get worked up over that. They make those type of decisions all the time on this show (and every other one too), like Gabriel running up to the front door of the church instead of simply crawling back in the same way he got out.
