    Um, since when did Merle prove himself to be a loyal, awesome brother to Daryl? Daryl's hallucination of Merle showed us that Merle was a total asshole to Daryl. So I totally understand why Daryl forgot about Merle 1-2 "hours" after they tried to save him. Which isn't true, actually. At the point they gave up searching for Merle, there wasn't anything else Daryl or Rick could have done to find Merle. He probably stole their truck.

    Ugh.

    he told them so the viewers could see how bad his group was. Other than that, he was probably scared and hurting and tried to plead his case that he didnt touch them.
