COD Ghosts is "review proof"
Reviews of COD Ghosts will have minimal impact on game sales in spite of waning interest from critics in the franchise’s yearly releases, according to Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz.
In an interview with GameIndustry, Cruetz said, “We think CoD has become such an embedded franchise that it is somewhat review-proof.” As the Call of Duty franchise “changes only incrementally from year to year,” Cruetz believes “reviewers have become increasingly less likely to give very high review scores due to a certain degree of ennui with the franchise.” The analyst is more concerned with next-gen shooters which include EA’s Titanfall and Activision’s Destiny which could eat into COD’s share of the FPS market.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is currently available for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U. Next gen versions of the game will be available at console launch for the PS4 and Xbox One. The game is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information, visit the official Call of Duty website at www.callofduty.com/ghosts, on www.facebook.com/CODGhosts and on Twitter @InfinityWard.
