GameStop Offering Armor For Halo 5 Preorders
“Real armor? Sign me up!” Uh, not so fast.
The newest Halo 5 trailer is all about GameStop’s preorder bonus for the game: free exclusive (digital) armor for use in the game’s multiplayer mode. It’s the Spartan Locke “HUNTER-Class” armor and helmet, available to pre-buyers on day one, October 27, the day the game launches.

Spartan Locke has been featured heavily in all promotional material released for Halo 5 to date. He’s been described by the XBox marketing machine as “the UNSC’s elite manhunter,” and he’s hunting down Master Chief for reasons that are slowly revealing themselves, one viral audio file at a time. But would you really want to dress as him so badly that you’d reward GameStop for pulling yet another cheap-prize reward for committing to buy a game before the reviews are in? Don’t be that guy. AAA games aren’t going to get any better unless we all agree to withhold our money UNTIL we know we’re getting a good product. It’s too early to confirm that for Halo 5.
The silver lining here is that, since the armor is intended for multiplayer, you will know EXACTLY who on the battlefield was stupid enough to fall for one of those preorder gimmicks. And you’ll have an easy target!
