E3 Gives Birth To Mini E3
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is and has always been a trade show — meaning its purpose is to show off industry wares to the press and investors, not the average citizen. Other video game conventions, such as PAX, have spring up to fill the gap and let everyone in, but E3 remains the biggest video game show of the year, and it’s an exclusive deal….for the most part.
Who knows if this was a response to the drought of corporate participation this year, but E3 has decided to create a mini-E3 that anyone can attend. Called E3 Live 2016, it’ll be a three-day event outside of convention halls, located at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. Doors open at 5 p.m. PT on June 14 (the same day E3 proper begins) and festivities will run for three days. E3 Live will be full of gameplay demos, live music and special appearances.
Attendance is free, though you must pre-register for a ticket; do so by going here. Each ticket is only good for five hours, so make them count. No one knows if E3 intends to make the Live spinoff a permanent deal, but such a move might depend on the response to this one. E3 itself runs from June 14th through the 16th.
