Gears Of War Developer Changes Name To "The Coalition"
The team behind the Gears of War series for XBox consoles has officially changed their name. Henceforth, they will be known as “The Coalition.”
You might be wondering, “What were they called before? I wasn’t paying attention.” They were Black Tusk Studios, a name that’s not so bad, if a little incomprehensible — what does it have to do with FPS games? According to studio head Rod Fergusson, that was part of the problem.
The word “coalition” was plucked from the Gears of War series itself. “The Coalition speaks to who we are as a team, and what it is we’re working on. A coalition is a team of diverse individuals working together for a common purpose, a concept that we feel describes our studio quite well. Fans will also recognize the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) from Gears of War lore.”
It’s rumored that Black Tu—-er, The Coalition is working on an HD remaster of the original Gears of War for XBox One, and plans to unveil it at E3 in less than two weeks. We’ll know very soon if there’s any truth to that.
