Ubisoft Offers Division Players Apologies, Free Credits
Ubisoft runs a weekly stream devoted to their game The Division called State of the Game. Today they had quite a lot to deal with, since as we’ve repeatedly reported, the state of their game is…not good.
Community developer Yannick Banchereau addressed the audience on Twitch, admitting that yeah, The Division has been full of bugs since Day One and they can’t seem to stop introducing new ones. He offered the best apology a PR man can muster and announced that this weekend, all Division players would be receiving 150 free Phoenix Credits to spend on penny whistles and moon pie.
But then there’s the subject of cheating, which has become rampant in The Division ever since a bug broke a boss fight and let players reap the rewards repeatedly. Banchereau said it was “going to be an ongoing fight” to stop the cheaters, and said the best way to level the playing field at the present time would be to report any incidents of cheating you witness. Easier said than done when it’s everywhere. This is (part of) how the Roman Empire fell; once corruption gets past a certain saturation point, it becomes a survival tactic and impossible to cleanse. The only solution is either a Hun invasion or a reboot of the entire game. Hopefully it won’t come to that, but whatever solution they end up using isn’t going to be pretty. Be prepared.
