Respawn and EA Refuse to Confirm, But Strongly Hint at, Titanfall 2
C’mon. We know there will be a Titanfall 2. Rumors are already swirling that it will be announced and that it will also be for the PS4, but even if they weren’t the simple fact that the original Titanfall is the Xbox One’s best-selling game all but guarantees it.
But that doesn’t mean Respawn Entertainment or EA are going to confirm it before they are good and ready, although in an interview today with Eurogamer they seem to be having their cake and eating it, too, both avoiding talking about Titanfall 2 and broadly winking at its potential existence.
EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson said “We have nothing to announce at this particular point in time.”
“We have announced that we have extended our relationship with Respawn. I’m very happy about that. Vince and the team there are amazing. We look forward to doing stuff with them for a long time to come. But right now we’re focused on the current Titanfall property,” Wilson said.
Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella took a similar tactic when asked what Respawn’s next game will be.
“Don’t know yet!” Zampella said. “No decisions have been made. That’ll be next week!”
But when asked if he’d like to make more Titanfall games, he said.
“The Titanfall universe is rich for exploration,” Zampella said. “I definitely wouldn’t discount it.”
So there you have it. A definitive yesnomaybe. But it sounds like a more concrete announcement may come soon.
