There'll Be A Big Update To Destiny This April
“The Taken King is dead. Yet still his armies yet claw at our worlds. Even as you led the assault on the Dreadnaught, a powerful would-be Taken Prince fled for the safety of the shadows. Hunt him down before he grows too powerful.”
So goes the narrative to the big update hitting Destiny next month. Yesterday Bungie held a livestream where the new quests, bounties and missions were detailed. Among them, a harder Prison of Elders (it’s Level 41 now), a new Strike boss named Malak (he’s pictured above), and a new activity called Challenge of the Elders that comes with a weekly scorecard. If players reach a score of 30,000 or more on their cards (which reset at the end of each week), they’ll earn prizes like weapons. There is some really good stuff you can get by obtaining higher scores; hitting 90,000 will give you incredibly nice and expensive armor. Good luck getting it though.
The Winter’s Run Strike will be increased to Taken-level difficulty for a special mission. As described by Bungie: “A cell, from the Prison of Elders! The Taken now corrupt this territory where the Fallen House of Winter once attempted to raise a powerful Archon Priest. Fight your way to the cell. Stop the Taken surge.”
Additional updates include these adjustments: the Light Level cap will be lifted to 335, King’s Fall Normal drops have been increased to Light level 320, Hard drops are boosted to Light level 330, and Court of Oryx artifacts drops will be raised to Light level 334. Also expect the usual number of minor tweaks and fixes to the game.
All these additions and changes will be active come April 12, when the latest update comes to Destiny: The Taken King on Playstation 4, XBox One and PC.
